There is a meeting of the Dumont Mayor & Council (Executive Meeting following by Public Meeting) scheduled for this coming Tuesday, August 19, at 6:00PM. We do not know whether the signs ordinance will be on the agenda for action by the governing body (the agenda has not yet been posted to the Borough web site), but we again encourage all members to keep apprised of local government decisions that have the potential to impact your business (such as the possibility of fees to real estate agents for placing “For Sale” signs on listed properties). If you plan on attending the meeting, please let us know by calling 201-648-8448 or sending an e-mail to

The Dumont Mayor & Council held an Executive Meeting and Public Meeting on Tuesday, July 15, beginning at 6:30PM. Present were Mayor McHale and Council members Riquelme, Caspare, Manna, Zamechansky, and Stylianou (Councilman McQuade was absent). Among other items on the agenda, the Mayor & Council discussed the following matters which have the potential to impact the business community:
Sign Ordinance: A letter by the Borough Attorney apparently raised the idea of amending the local signs ordinance to impose a $35 fee upon real estate agents for each sign upon real estate. So, in other words, if a given real estate person has 20 houses listed, with a "For Sale" sign upon each property, they would have to pay $700.00 in fees. |
